This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. The learning outcomes that will be achieved will focus on the four principles of first aid:
Preserve life;
Prevent illness, injury or condition(s) becoming worse;
Promote recovery; and
Protecting the unconscious casualty.
